Transplanted Penis Removed.

advertisement

Chinese surgeons who performed the world's first penis transplant had to remove the new organ after the recipient developed severe psychological problems.

Doctors say the operation was a surgical success but psychological issues suffered by the man and his wife meant the donated organ had to be removed after two weeks, The Guardian reports.

The man had the surgery after his own organ was damaged beyond repair in an accident this year, leaving him with a 1cm-long stump with which he was unable to urinate or have sexual intercourse.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

What kind of accident do you have to be in to make your penis "damaged beyond repair"? And yet it sounds like the rest of him is ok, kind of freeky!

Hmmm . I think the Bobbit family might be able to answer that sort of question better than me.

Oh, gee, anything can happen to a penis. Slam it in a car door, get it caught in a swimming pool filter (vacuum cleaner, robo-vac), have your girlfriend leave before you're done, leave the ice bag on it too long, mince it along with the onions at the nude cook-out, have the dog playing too rough with it, have a girlfriend's name tattoo re-removed, get it jammed in the mix-master, pop it through one glory hole too many.... oh, and marry a Bobbit : )
    Why do you ask?

    lol

The inability to urinate strikes me as a bit more sympathy-inducing.
